Shore Retreat

Interiors by Morgante Wilson Architects ~ Landscape Design by Kettelkamp and Kettelkamp - Photos by Michael Robinson

Artfully abridged detailing that nods to neoclassicism is layered on top of the arched form inside and out, giving it a handsome demeanor with a contemporary vibe

Location
New Buffalo, Michigan

Intended as a gathering spot for generations present and future, as children grow, marry, and have children of their own, this Michigan vacation home honors both its shoreline setting as well as the dunes and wetlands which surround it. Serene interior design – developed by Morgante Wilson’s talented team of experienced design professionals – complements, but never compromises, stunning Lake Michigan views. With an exterior punctuated by stone – and a reliance upon that same stone to form a dramatically curved wall that bisects formal and informal spaces throughout its interior – this home displays a unique sense of place. And promise.

A sitting room at the farthest end of the arc-shaped house cantilevers over the lake to capture dramatic views. Barrel chairs by McGuire and an extra-long sofa capped with a chaise from Kravet offer an abundance, and thoughtful variety, of seating. The dramatic and variable nature of the land and views

Handsome oak cabinetry by Lambright Woodworking in Topeka, Indiana, sports acrylic panels in the kitchen, while Shangri-la granite from Marble & Granite Supply of Illinois tops counters and glass mosaic tiles from Mona Lisa Stone & Tile serve as a back splash.
